Since mid-May we have had almost no rain. It has been hot and the grass has nearly stopped growing! Hopefully we will get some liquid relief from the sky soon!
New baby goat!
Despite the heat our favorite doe Clarice gave birth to a healthy baby buckling recently:
We’re taking name suggestions. Right now I’m partial to “Dickey,” in homage to the late great Dickey Betts. This lil guy was born out on the hillside pasture in one of our mobile sheep/goat shelters - not exactly the back seat of a Greyhound bus rollin down highway 41, but you get the idea.
Lil guy gets a first lesson in nursing from a great team!
New farm products!
INSULATING COOL BAGS
In addition to pet beds stuffed with fleece from our sheep, we’re also selling these nifty insulated cool bags with our logo:
They measure about 12” x 6” x 8,” have an insulating liner and a zipper closure, a mesh pocket on one side and a solid fabric pocket on the other side. Great for packing a lunch or keeping your farmers’ market items warm or cool as needed.
“Space blanket” insulating interior liner.
Cool bags are available for $8 plus shipping.
LAVENDER
We started growing lavender and had our first harvest back in June.
We’ve been experimenting to find the right lavender variety(-ies) that grow well at our place along with optimizing the growing conditions. We’ve been selling lavender bundles at the farmers’ market and want to include to other lavender products as we expand our production.
All this and so much more going on at Magpie Hollow! We love visitors so come see us anytime - just don’t be surprised if we put you to work!
